General Findings
Buying the perfect present for someone is not an exact science, it takes a bit of patience, care and thought. There are a number of factors that need to be considered, in order to choose the best gift for the person receiving:
First decide what type of occasion it is. This can be vital in buying somebody the perfect gift, a good starting point for a specific type of present. So a good thing to attempt is to find a gift that pertains to the occasion, (for example, a house warming present, could be something to be used or placed in the house). However, when the occasion is more generalised like a birthday or Christmas, then you have to put some more thought into who you are getting the gift for, and what they would like to receive.
You should work out what type of relationship you have with the person, as this can also denote the type of present to get. Is the person getting the gift a girlfriend, boyfriend, mom, dad, good friend. If she is a girlfriend, then something more intimate may be appropriate. For example, naming a star after her would make her smile or name a rose. Maybe a person has been ill or depressed, and you want to make them feel well again. Many people are moved by verbal expressions of love. The sending of a letter, a card, or a sympathetic email, is an excellent gesture to show how much you care. Not only is it really kind, but it is unexpected and can really make a world of difference in someone’s life. So your relationship with the receiver can directly link to the type of gift that you give, to make it more personal.
To give someone a personalized gift is a brilliant way of making it special, and it’s specific to the person receiving. A perfect example is a personalized bottle of wine or champagne, these make brilliant gifts because they show that thought has been put in to choosing a good gift. Personalized gifts can be cheap, greatly appreciated and show that you have put some thought in, instead of just buying something at the last minute because you forgot.
Consider the person’s hobbies, interests, likes/dislikes and occupation when you purchase a gift. A present related to something that the receiver likes or is interested in, is a good way to get a perfect gift. For example, if he or she is into cars, maybe a Ferrari driving experience day could be suitable.
Finally, after finding a gift you need to apply the finishing touches. Be it a personal message, a nice box, good wrapping paper, a note or card of your thoughts and feelings, or a personal way of presenting the present. It all tells the person, receiving it, that you put the thought and effort in. If you have absolutely no idea what to write, you can include a gift card inside or look up what others have put.
This is just an outline of what makes brilliant gift ideas. But ultimately you are the judge, and you should trust your own instincts.
IT’S THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS!
